Grayhaven is a family owned and operated farm winery located in Gum Spring, Virginia, thirty minutes west of Richmond. The winery is situated on fifty acres of beautiful rolling hills, picturesque vineyards and tree-lined horse pastures. The rustic winery building is replete with handcrafted details, such as the gothic-style oak doors designed and built by winemaker Chuck Peple with iron hinge work by local blacksmith Scott Hinsley.
Grayhaven’s charming tasting room has vaulted ceilings and a viewing window that allows guests to see the winemaking operation in progress. Decks and an enchanting Japanese garden flank the front of the winery. A footbridge arches over cascading Koi ponds to the entrance. Whether your party is 20 or 200, Grayhaven provides an intimate environment with a relaxed atmosphere.
Let Your Imagination Run Free! Flexibility sets Grayhaven’s venue apart - Guests may use the winery’s catering services, bring in their own caterer or self cater. Horse & carriages, hot-air balloons, lanterns & torches, sporting equipment, special props, stage construction and even family dogs are allowed at Grayhaven. For weddings, reunions and other large events, a full-day rental allows couples ample decorating, set-up and breakdown time during the weeks prior to and after their event.
The Perfect Getaway! From company picnics, car club outings and Christmas parties to christenings, family reunions and birthdays - Grayhaven is the perfect setting for small events. Call today for details - in many cases there is no charge for using Grayhaven’s venue if your party is less than 30 +- and the event is not a wedding or wedding reception. Weddings at Grayhaven Grayhaven is perfect for couples who seek a relaxed environment, friendly service and flexibility. While guests may use the winery’s two restrooms, changing rooms for bride & groomsmen and tastingroom (after 3pm) all of Grayhaven’s wedding event areas are outdoors. Vineyard Overlook: This ceremony or reception site behind the winemaker’s house is set in a peaceful stand of pine trees overlooking our vineyards. The large flat grassy area can accommodate a large tent, allowing for a more formal dinner option in an outdoor setting. This site is closest to parking, giving guests easy access to the site, but is apx 300 yards from the winery and restrooms.
Lakeside Amphitheater: Our most popular ceremony site! A gentle slope leads guests to the ceremony site among pine trees at the vineyard pond.
Dogwood Meadow: A secluded spot nestled between two vineyards is the perfect romantic backdrop for your ceremony. Prancing Pony Pasture: A great spot for a large tent, the Pony Pasture is a large, relatively flat area in between the pond and the winery *The most popular choice is to use the Lakeside area for the ceremony and the Pony Pasture for the reception/tent.
Pricing For 2009
$900 for a half day (up to 4 hours - this choice is suggested for smaller groups of 50 or less);
$1,700 for full day (no other events will be booked)

No other events will be scheduled simultaneously with your event, however, if you choose a half-day rental, another event may take place before or after yours. The price includes use of all of the outdoor sites (you can have the ceremony in one area and the reception in the other.) Your guests are free to walk around the property, visit the winery for a wine tasting or a tour, pet the horses, etc. Tents, tables, chairs, linens and decorations are not included in the venue rental. Couples may choose to use their own or rent from the event services company of their choice. Grayhaven will coordinate with your vendor for delivery, set-up and pick-up. There are many wonderful event service companies in the area to choose from. Grayhaven recommends Party Perfect in Richmond because of their familiarity with Grayhaven, excellent prices and service. As always, couples may bring in the caterer of their choice or self-cater. Couples may serve non-Grayhaven wine, beer and spirits at their reception. A banquet license must be obtained by the couple, their caterer or bar tenders from the Department of ABC. Guests may not carry non-Grayhaven alcohol into Grayhaven’s winery facility or tasting room.Grayhaven offers a number of choices for couples who wish to provide Grayhaven wine for their guests. Option 1: Pre-purchase your choice of Grayhaven wine to set out at your tent or on the tables for your guests to self-serve. Additionally, Grayhaven’s tasting room will be open during your event so that your guests may taste the full line-up of wines and purchase bottles to take home. Option 2: Tasting and Bar service can be provided in the tasting room or at your tent for $2.50 per drinking guest (guests return their glass at the end of the evening) or $5 per drinking guest (guests keep their Grayhaven glass as a souvenir/party favor.) Open bar, cash bar or a combination is available. Many couples choose to set a budget for open bar and then switch to cash bar once the budget is met. This option is best for couples who wish to have a Grayhaven staff member pour wines for guests v.s. guests serving themselves. Custom Labeled wine is available through Grayhaven regardless of whether you choose our winery for your wedding/reception site. Souvenir-size bottles make great wedding favors and full-size bottles add a creative, personal touch to wines served at the tables. More info...
